The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the following position at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.
Position
RESEARCH TECHNICIAN II (Cold Store & Trial (2 year renewable contract)
Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:
- Compile list of research inputs for procurement from overseas suppliers in a database for ease of collection;
- Arrange inputs and other supplies in the Maize Unit stores to facilitate easy retrieval;
- Keep computerized records of regional trials and seed requests from collaborators to facilitate prompt response;
- Document records of number of trials and quantity of seeds supplied to collaborators, various institutions and scientists in a database;
- Establish and consistently update the list of genetic materials maintained in the cold store in a database.
- Follow up with Seed Health Unit and Plant Quarantine Services for securing import permits and Phytosanitary Certificates for shipments of maize seeds and trials to collaborators and for the importation of maize seeds trials from other International Research Centers, Universities and National Research Institutes.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
National Diploma in Agriculture plus two years of experience in research with excellent computer skills in ms-excel and other software for data entry.
He/She must be honest, hardworking, painstaking and good in figures with measure of accuracy.
