The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the following positions at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position
RESEARCH SUPERVISOR (Pathology) (18 months renewable Contract)

Duties:
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
Assist with coordinating activities in the laboratory;
Conduct laboratory, screen-house and field experiments with scientists;
Assist with culture/isolate storage appropriately;
Conduct sampling, surveys, interpret result;
Prepare draft standard operating protocols for laboratory methods with scientists;
Provide assistance. Guidance to visiting students/Scientists;
Assist with ensuring proper data entry in laboratory books;
Assist with preparing draft reports on time;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualification and Experience
BSc/HND in Microbiology/Plant Pathology/Crop Protection plus at least four (4) years post-qualification working experience in a research institution.

The ideal candidate must:
Be hardworking honest and trustworthy
Ability to build, coordinate and be a good team player;
Possess very good interpersonal relations, organisational and communication skills;
Candidate should be computer literate in MS Office packages;
Possess a valid Drivers' license and ready to travel when necessary
Be able to work under pressure, outside office hours and on weekends where necessary;


Position
RESEARCH  TECHNICIANS (Pathology) (3 positions) ( 18 months renewable Contract)

Qualification and Experience
ND in Science Laboratory Technology plus at least three (3) years post-qualification working experience in a research institution.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word Packages will be an added advantage.

The ideal candidate must:
Be able to work independently;
Be a good team player and be able to follow instructions;
Possess good organisation skills;
Be able to work under pressure, and willing to work outside work hours where necessary.


Position
Research Technician I (Maize) (2-year renewable Contract)

Qualification and Experience
ND in Agriculture and at least four (4) years working experience in similar research areas.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and should be able to work extra hours.

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the following position at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position
TEACHER (2 year renewable contract)

Duties
Successful candidate will:

Be responsible for the education and welfare of the Grade I pupils;
Plan and prepare courses and lessons following the programmes already in place
Assess, record and report on the progress of the pupils;
Maintain a well-ordered teaching areas;
Be responsible for and participate in two afternoon clubs;
Operate the class timetable as agreed with the Head;
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head.


Qualifications and Experience

B.Ed. or first degree plus PGDE. Candidate must be child centred and experience in enquiry based teaching approach.
Possession of teaching skills in French, German or any other language plus musical skills is added advantage.

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN II (Cold Store & Trial (2 year renewable contract)

Duties
Successful candidate will among other things:

• Compile list of research inputs for procurement from overseas suppliers in a database for ease of collection;
• Arrange inputs and other supplies in the Maize Unit stores to facilitate easy retrieval;
• Keep computerized records of regional trials and seed requests from collaborators to facilitate prompt response;
• Document records of number of trials and quantity of seeds supplied to collaborators, various institutions and scientists in a database;
• Establish and consistently update the list of genetic materials maintained in the cold store in a database.
• Follow up with Seed Health Unit and Plant Quarantine Services for securing import permits and Phytosanitary Certificates for shipments of maize seeds and trials to collaborators and for the importation of maize seeds trials from other International Research Centers, Universities and National Research Institutes.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

National Diploma in Agriculture plus two years of experience in research with excellent computer skills in ms-excel and other software for data entry.

He/She must be honest, hardworking, painstaking and good in figures with measure of accuracy.

Position: PROJECT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
( 2 -year renewable contract)

Duties

Successful candidate will:
Assist project Administrator with day to day project administration;
Maintain electronic filling/archive system of Project related documents;
Assist with drafting, negotiating and finalizing Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), Memorandum of Agreement (MoAs), and other related documents for both donors and partners communication and Material Transfer Agreements and other IP-related issues;
Assist with keeping up-to-date database and retrieve information from both paper files and database to resolve queries;
Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications Experience and Personal Attributes

BSc/HND Business Administration with 5 years post-qualification working experience in a multinational organisation.
Must have good working knowledge of basic accounting and legal issues, computer software programmes especially use of Oracle Applications.
Candidates must have good interpersonal skills, be honest, trustworthy, hardworking and highly discreet. He/She must be very good with figures and willing to work extra hours when the need arises.
